Safety training in wind turbines
Challenge: Previous eLearning had proven inefficient in engaging the end users and providing the necessary proficiency level.
Learning objectives: Learn procedures for using different lifts in wind turbines.
Context of use: Course taken by participants
Solution: Over the past 5 years, we have developed a number of different simulation game courses. They are all fully interactive 3D, single-user simulations for procedural learning in relation to carrying out the right safety procedures in servicing wind turbines and using different equipment. The solutions are built on a framework that allows us to easily change the contents.
The trainee must perform the necessary actions in the right order inside the wind turbine simulation in order to progress. Initially, the trainee is helped with text and visuals, but as he or she moves up in proficiency level, less help is available. Finally, there is a test level without any help beyond what would be available on-site.
Results: The solution has been used and upgraded over the last 5 years. It increases engagement and learning effect.
