Learn about everyday life in 3rd world
Challenge: Develop an engaging and educational experience that gave children an inside perspective on living in a 3rd world country while working under a joint brand with other media formats (physical Christmas calendar, educational material and television series).
Learning objectives: Learn about children’s life in general, and with each episode a specific theme e.g. children’s rights or conflict resolution.
Context of use: At home with parents or in primary school.
Solution: Over a 5-year working relationship, we developed a platform where children explored, engaged and solved challenges related to everyday life through a 3D roleplaying game with mini-games.
Each game had a strong narrative that propelled the player forward while still being exposed to a variety of topics evolving around for example deforesting in New Guinea, language barriers in Guatemala and conflict resolutions in Sierra Leone.
Results: A new game version with a new theme was released each year from 2007-2012 and attracted 150-200,000 players each year.
