3D Simulation

Training.

When it comes to procedural training, a virtual simulation is a powerful tool. We design simulation solutions for procedural training such as safety, evacuation, compliance and maintenance. When designing simulation training we focus on training staff so the organisation and employee act with proficiency, confidence and is prepared for any challenges and tasks that lie ahead.

For the last 10+ years we have delivered strong results for organisations in this domain. The business drivers can vary but typical organizations invest in simulation training because they recognize the savings in relation to elements like trainee time, quality improvements, reduction in training supervisor time, and reduction of training related cost like hardware, travel and materials.

Realistic interactive 3D simulations are superior in terms of learning, transfer, self-efficacy and retention compared to other instructional formats. We know that simulation training provides a safe and highly realistic environment where staff can prepare and perform tasks repeatedly.

We help companies harvest the benefits of the newest available 3D training simulation technology

When training procedural skills in a virtual environment people learn faster and the amount of errors is reduced dramatically – most noticeable is however the higher retention, transfer and self-efficacy.

Retention denotes how much is remembered several months after the training, and transfer shows how much a learner can take with them outside of the learning context. Self-efficacy is the employee’s own perceived level of skills, and this is a very important factor when people are being put to the test during pressure. When self-efficacy is high people act.

We guarantee strong results by using an agile method and offering companies to trial our solutions early on in the process. We use the instructional design method developed by Gagné which has proven to produce the best results.

Meta-study of simulation training for adults

Below we describe the proven effects, and typically we are above these results given our proven method (Source: Sitzmann & Ely, 2011):

  • +14% Learning effect
  • +9% Retention rate
  • +20% Self-efficacy level

When you look at the studies there are several important accelerators that increase the learning effects: Trainee take active approach to content, use of 3D environments and integration of the assessment.

Virtual Reality for immersive simulation training

We have extensive experience in using VR for training across several industries. VR can provide increased realism, immersion and sense of scale that can be important factors to achieve some learning objectives. In other cases it can be a bit of overkill.

In the right situation VR can become a driver for increasing impact across most parameters of virtual simulation training. However, it also comes with additional cost and limitations as a dedicated training location with a VR set-up is typically required.

We offer a custom-made simulation training platform build on top of the Unity3D game engine

  • Offers an easy set-up for the learning environment
  • Enables you to modify the learning flow
  • Supports different difficulty levels
  • Implements assessment throughout the simulation
  • Deploys to SCORM compliant Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Supports major VR providers (eg. HTC Vive and Oculus Rift)

The development budget for a procedural simulation varies based on the exact training in terms of locations and complexity of procedures.

We encourage long-term collaboration with our clients and therefore offer a yearly support service and maintenance package for typically 18% of development cost. This includes a support package, a yearly update of the training content, and upgrades of the technical platform when necessary. This ensures that the solution continues to run smoothly, and comply with regulations and processes.

Our platform has been proven in training for companies in many different domains: Energy, transportation and manufacturing. If you are unsure whether to invest in simulation training games then ask yourself: If you don’t remember what you have learned, are capable of using it in your work-life, and feel confident in applying your new abilities – then what is the point of training? This is what simulation training games bring to the table.
